Ben Woodward is a pianist and conductor based in Berlin. He has recently finished a contract at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater in Flensburg, where he conducted over 20 performances in his 2 years there. He has also worked at the Staatsoper Hannover and the Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen.
Before Germany, he was a pianist and conductor in London, where he founded Fulham Opera, with whom he has led performances of Falstaff, Gianni Schicchi, Don Carlo, Simon Boccanegra, Der fliegende Holländer, Die Meistersinger and the complete Ring Cycle. He is also known for his baroque performances, having led both Bach Passions from the harpsichord in London and New York, and was a visiting professor of baroque music at Williams College, MA, USA, as harpsichord soloist in the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto.
He was organ scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, was on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music, and prior to those, was a student at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.
He lives with his wife Catharine, a very loud soprano, and their cat Kira, who has been known to compete.
