Jonty Nowell trained at the City of Leeds College of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Music, studied for his Master's in Composition at Nottingham University and eventually returned to work in and around Lincoln.

He is active as a composer and performer in a variety of genres, from classical to jazz and folk music.  Jonty combines his role as Director of Music at Burton Hathow Preparatory School with a busy freelance schedule, and as a published composer and songwriter has had premieres in Lincoln and Canterbury cathedrals, and the Royal Albert Hall, among other places.  He is also in demand locally as an accompanist and piano teacher.
