Melanie has been volunteering with Leicester MusicFest for a number of years and became the Trustee treasurer in 2024. You can also find her at the front desk, welcoming you to the festival! Having many formative musical experiences started with support from musical charities in her hometown, including the Thetford Music Project, she is keen to be able to give back and enable similar opportunities for future generations.

While attending the University of Reading, Melanie achieved a Masters in Mathematics and then started her career in financial services for over 8 years. She is now working with the Young Organ Scholars’ Trust, and ZigZag Photography, and as a volunteer and workshop leader for Thetford Voices, a community group who bring singing and performance opportunities to young people in Norfolk.

Melanie regularly sings with choirs around Leicester, and highlights include recording a CD of choral music with the Leicester University Chamber Choir, and tours around the UK and Europe with LUCC and the Saffron Singers. She also sings every year with the Pro Arte Singers in their fundraising concert for Leicester MusicFest’s instrument rehoming scheme.
